# Resize Root Disk

You can increase the root disk size when your VM instance needs additional storage space. The root disk can only be resized to increase its size; reducing the size of the root disk is not supported.

* In the **Action** column, click **More**, then select **Resize Root Disk**.

* Enter the desired size for the **Root Disk**. The root disk size cannot be smaller than **20GB**. Then click **Resize Root Disk** to apply the changes, or click **Cancel** if you do not want to modify the root disk size.

* A process will begin to expand the size of the root disk.

* After the resize process is complete, the updated disk size will automatically appear in the **Instance** list.
