# datavolume

The describe datavolume command retrieves detailed information about a specific Data Volume (DV) in the Kubernetes cluster. This includes metadata, requested storage, access modes, current status, binding details, and the associated Persistent Volume (PV), if applicable.

## Usage

```
cldkctl describe datavolume [name] [flags]
```

## Steps

Follow the steps below to run and view the result of this command:

1. Run the following command in your terminal:

```
cldkctl describe datavolume [name]
```

2. Replace \[name] with the Data Volume name you want to inspect.
3. To view the resource name, refer to the corresponding get datavolume section.
4. If the resource is located in a non-default namespace, include the `-n` or `--namespace` flag followed by the namespace name.

```
cldkctl describe [resource] [name] -n [namespace]
```

5. Once completed successfully, the detailed information about the specified Data Volume will appear in your terminal. The output includes metadata, PVC specifications, source type, and condition status.

The following table describes the additional fields specific to the DataVolume resource.

| Column                             |                                                                                              |
| ---------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| spec.pvc | Defines the configuration of the PersistentVolumeClaim (PVC) associated with the DataVolume. |
| spec.pvc.accessModes | Lists how the volume can be mounted. |
| spec.pvc.resource.requests.storage | The amount of storage requested for the volume. |
| spec.pvc.storageClassName | The name of the StorageClass used to provision the volume. |
| spec.resource | Indicates the data source used to populate the DataVolume. |
| status.conditions | Lists the current condition states of the DataVolume. |
| status.conditions.message | Provides detailed messages regarding the current state or issues. |
| status.phase | Shows the overall lifecycle phase of the DataVolume. |
